Our path toward a balanced and sustainable world
Sustainability is at the core of IONWAY’s operations.
We understand that the future of e-mobility depends on a responsible approach to the environment, local communities, and our employees. That’s why we are already taking action to combine innovation with care for the planet and support for the Nysa region. Our goal is to power the world through CO₂-neutral production of cathode active material the most valuable component of electric vehicle batteries.
EHS STRATEGY

Caring for the Planet
Environmental protection is one of our top priorities. At IONWAY, we minimize the environmental impact of our operations through sustainable practices in waste, emissions, and water management.Waste segregation and recycling, Collaboration with external partners for waste management, Use of technologies that eliminate environmental risks.
Machine Safety First
Ensuring the safety of our machinery is fundamental to protecting our people. We take a preventive approach, implementing advanced technological solutions and complying with international standards.
- Commissioning inspections (effective PSSR – PreStartup Safety Reviews before employees begin work at designated stations) Preventive maintenance
- LOTO (Lockout/Tagout), line breaking procedures
- CE conformity and integration of compliance standards
Risk Assessment & Minimization
Risk evaluation and mitigation are essential components of our HSE strategy. Our teams use modern methods to continuously enhance safety.
- Multidisciplinary teams responsible for hazard assessment
- Use of innovative solutions to reduce risk
- Job Safety Analysis (JSA) for specific activities
Effective Training
Well-informed and well prepared teams are the foundation of a strong safety culture. We invest in employee development through targeted training programs and hands-on workshops.
In-house specialist training, including:
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE), with high-quality “fit-tests” for respiratory protection
- Chemical safety management
- Safe work in confined spaces
- Working at heights
- First aid and fire response training
Global Safety Standards
Our HSE approach is built on implementing and adhering to international standards. We ensure full compliance while creating a workplace rooted in safety.
- Implementation of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards
- Safety procedures, manuals, and support systems
People-First Safety Culture
Safety starts with people. We’re building a culture where every employee and leader understands their role in protecting health and life.
- Well-trained and safety-conscious management teams
- BBS programs (Behavior-Based Safety) promoting safe habits through dialogue
- Employee engagement through dedicated HSE events
Proactive Incident Prevention
We don’t wait for accidents to happen we act proactively. Regular safety walks and incident analysis help us improve continuously.
Open conversations with employees and implementing their suggestions
- MoHRA (Management of High Risk Activities) and near-miss reporting
- Leadership-led safety walks
- Root cause analysis using the “5 WHY” method
Life Saving Rules
Our Live Saving Rules define the critical behaviors that prevent serious injuries and fatalities. They apply to everyone on our sites employees, contractors, and visitors and are supported by training, clear supervision, and the right to stop work whenever conditions are unsafe.
MoHRA Program (Management of High Risk Activities)
MoHRA targets the highest-risk tasks by defining the critical controls that must be in place before work starts and throughout execution.
- Identify high-risk activities (e.g., LOTO, line breaking, confined space, work at height, lifting, hot work, mobile equipment interfaces).
- Define critical controls and roles (performer, supervisor, issuer/authorizer).
- Use permit-to-work and pre-job briefings to confirm hazards, controls, and emergencies.
- Verify controls in the field through supervision, targeted checks, and safety walks.
- Learn from incidents and near-misses; track actions to completion.
Safe Work, Safe Environment
The safety of our employees and partners working on-site is our top priority. From the very beginning even during the construction
phase we have adhered to the highest health and safety standards.

Advanced Technologies & Risk Management
Production process at the Nysa plant will be enclosed and automated to minimaze employee exposure to potentially hazardous substances. Every stage of the project undergoes process riska assessment and revalidation, allowing us to continuously identify and eliminate potential hazards.

A Hands-On Approach to Training
To ensure the highest quality of training, we implement modern solutions such as virtual reality (VR) technology and focus on practical, results-driven health and safety education. Employees receive comprehensive training, including:LOTO (Lockout-Tagout) procedures, first aid workshops, proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE)

a safety culture for us and the community
We believe safety goes beyond procedures. Our goal is to promote a true culture of safety and health awareness not only within the company, but also outside working hours and across the local community. We plan to launch initiatives that engage local residents in health and environmental protection efforts. Our plant will operate in line with international safety management systems, including ISO 45001, ensuring the highest standards of protection.

INNOVATIONS THAT PROTECT THE ENVIRONMENT
Caring for the Environment Is More Than a Statement It’s Our Standard. Our production plant in Nysa will operate according to the principles of a circular economy, maximizing resource efficiency and minimizing waste.
Closed water loop: All process wastewater will be treated and reused within the production cycle.
Clean air :External emission sources will be equipped with advanced filters to reduce air pollutants to an absolute minimum.
Renewable energy: The plant will be powered by green energy sources including solar panels enabling carbon-neutral production.
Supporting e-mobility: The site will feature electric vehicle charging stations, and our company fleet will ultimately be fully electric.
Paperless model: By eliminating paper and switching to digital workflows, we save hundreds of trees each year and significantly reduce operational waste.
Through these solutions, IONWAY not only supports sustainable development we actively contribute to a healthier environment for the local community and future generations.
